Academic Tutor

STS is seeking applicants for academic tutors in a variety of disciplines.

Qualified tutors are added to a database of available professionals who are able to support students who have a demonstrated need for additional support or for parents who are simply seeking out additional support for their own children. In cases where the school is referring a student for additional support, tutors are expected to work closely with the classroom teacher. Tutors benefit from being associated with one of the most respected independent schools in the eastside; the School and its families benefit from having tutors who, over time, are developing a deeper understanding of the School’s academic programs and pedagogy.

All financial and scheduling arrangements are between the tutor and the individual families. STS assumes no responsibility for the specific outcomes associated with tutoring while the School desires to establish a database of available tutors, parents must ultimately determine “best fit.”

Qualified candidates will have:

  • Experience as a classroom teacher or demonstrated experience in tutoring
  • A college degree in education or related discipline
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent references

Tutors interested in being part of the greater STS community should submit:

  • cover letter that highlights particular strengths and areas of expertise
  • resume
  • three recent letters of recommendation

Tutors are expected to meet with a member of the administration and complete a background check (fees are paid by the tutor).

Please submit your documents by email to info@stthomasschool.org or by mail to the Administrative Assistant to the Head of School, 8300 NE 12th Street, Medina WA, 98039.

No phone calls please.
